CEROBEAR Hybrid-Ceramic Ball Bearings for LNG pumps
CEROBEAR‘s rolling bearing specification for the use in cryogenic environment features races either made from AISI 440C or High-Nitrogen Steel Cronidur® 30. High-Nitrogen Steel provides excellent resistance against wear, fatigue and corrosion, particularly in combination with rolling elements made from silicon nitride ceramic (Si3N4), a material which provides inertness, extreme hardness (1550 HV) and almost perfect corrosion resistance.
Si3N4 rolling bodies, available as balls or rollers, prevent adhesive wear and significantly reduce abrasive wear and bearing friction. Therefore, CEROBEAR hybrid ceramic bearings are especially qualified for media lubrication operation. Their application specific internal bearing design considers the different thermal expansion of the races and balls and by this leads to an optimized internal geometry at operating temperature. The result is an extended bearing life.
